Business Development Manager
With technical knowledge backed by a PhD in pharmacy, and market contacts right around the world, Alan relishes the opportunities provided by his Business Development Manager role.
A citizen of the world, Alan was born in Scotland, before working in post-doctoral research science in the USA, as a pharmaceutical development manager in the UK, and as Manager of Science and Technology for the British Council in Indonesia. Eventually, in 1997, Alan found his way to New Zealand. Roles undertaken in this country have centred on the successful development of new products from the development stage through to the successful export of raw materials directly to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. In addition, he established markets for products in the USA, Europe, China, Australia and Japan, and has negotiated EU certification for New Zealand sourced biological raw materials.
Alan has a long history in International Disaster Recovery, being Country Director of SurfAid International, Indonesia between 2007 and 2012. He sees his roles of implementing aid programmes, managing the delivery of project outcomes, and successfully bidding for government funding to improve community health, as being complementary to his present role.
Currently, Alan's principal focus centres on bio-cultures, and the development of export markets for products and raw materials derived from the meat industry. Alan's strong networks in the New Zealand science and technology sectors come through hands-on participation in a wide range of New Zealand government initiatives.
Alan's global perspective, along with his extensive knowledge of the industry, mean that he is fortunate to personally know many of ANZCO foods' potential clients, resulting in unique opportunities for these businesses.
