ANZCO Foods Butcher Apprentice of the year 2024

Jeff and the red meat team attended the ANZCO Foods Butcher Apprentice of year awards in Auckland this month to recognise the talent and expertise of the young people who demonstrated their passion and incredible skills.

Congratulations to Anton Rameka of New World Regent in Whangārei, who took home the title of ANZCO Foods Butcher Apprentice 2024! He’ll be joining the New Zealand Young Butcher’s team next year in Paris as part of the World Butchers’ Challenge – we can’t wait to see how the team gets on.

Four years in the making, Anton is ecstatic with his victory, owing it to his organisation and technical skills, setting himself apart. He says: ''I’m over the moon with the win. The difference for me today was my creative side came out.”

These young professionals are ambassadors for our industry, and events like the annual awards help to attract our future stars and demonstrate it can be a fun and rewarding career.

Our farmers are world-renown, and ANZCO Foods is proud to work with them to carefully craft a range of New Zealand’s finest beef and lamb products.

The ANZCO Foods Butcher Apprentice of the Year provides a great platform for us to showcase these products through the talent of these up-and-coming butchers.
