ANZCO Foods CEO Update - October 2024

Posted on Tuesday, 15 October 2024 under CEO Updates

There’s been a lot of commentary about the impact of reduced stock numbers and land use change on our industry.

Later this week Alliance is likely to announce the outcome of the consultation period at its Smithfield facility, reflecting the challenges that are being felt across the entire sector.

Our thoughts are with those directly impacted and the local community as this consultation process concludes.

Fundamental changes within a sector often results in a period of adjument to reflect those changes and unfortunately, this can be extremely unsettling. Ideally it’s better for everyone in the sector to succeed and for the sector to be strong.

From an ANZCO Foods perspective we remain committed to our processing sites and servicing you as well as supporting our people and our local communities.

We’ll continue to invest in our sites to ensure we maintain our capability and efficiency within our business.

We are also acutely aware of the prolonged wet conditions affecting Southland’s farmers and the toll it’s taking on productivity, livestock health, and overall wellbeing. The persistent rain, coupled with a lack of sunshine, has resulted in difficult farming conditions and we recognise the immense pressure this is putting on our farmers and the broader rural community.

While the conditions remain challenging, the latest forecasts are optimistic. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate contact someone if you need support – we’ve provided information later in this update to assist anyone who needs support in throughout any challenging times.
