Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust

ANZCO Foods is a proud supporter of the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust.

It provides a lifeline for people in rural communities and those who work and play in rugged rural environment, where the speed of a rescue helicopter can make all the difference in raising lives.

2023 has been busy for the Air Rescue Trust with a total of 438 missions from January to June, attending to a mix of accidents, medical events, hospital transfers, motor vehicle incidents, and search and rescue events from both the Canterbury and West Coast bases.

Supporters of the rescue helicopter directly contribute to enabling the crew to do extensive training to ensure they are ready for action when calls come in. This includes boat winch training, night winch training, night vision goggle training, and helicopter underwater escape training.

We have also been excited to see that mechanical CPR machines have recently been purchased for each of the Canterbury and West Coast bases. These units ensure CPR can continue in the helicopter in flight, which is something that can’t be done manually due to size limitations of the helicopter continued and consistent support is imperative to the success of the Trust.
