How Cyber Smart are you?

Last week, as part of Cyber Smart week, ANZCO Foods internally turned the spotlight on cybersecurity, arming our employees with knowledge and tips to keep safe online.

Due to the huge increase in scams, data breaches, phishing, and hacking, we turned our focus to ensure our team members were made familiar with some of the latest hacks and scams, and what can be done to minimise risk.

Some of the things included how to up your password game, to ensure you always have two-factor (or multi-factor) authentication turned on, how to use a password manager, how to keep your family safe online by changing router settings, what to look out for to determine if an email is dodgy or legitimate, and what you should and shouldn’t publicly tell the online world through social media and other forms of online communication. We were even lucky enough to hear from our very own employees who shared some powerful stories of how they were scammed – and it became apparent just how easy it can be.

One of our favourite resources shared with the team was the “Have I been pwned?” tool. This is a website that checks your email address or password to see if they have been compromised in a data breach. This is a good opportunity to see if you might need to up your security game. Check out the tool here – just make sure you’re connected through a secure network like your home or work WiFi – don’t go using any free WiFi connections!

We’re keen to see our ANZCO whānau keep safe too, so we’re pleased to share with you more information on phishing and how to keep safe on social media this Christmas. Check out our phishing information here.
