Hazardous Substances and Chemical Management

Our health and safety focus for October is Hazardous Substances and Chemical Handling.

Understanding the precautions needed when handling chemicals is key to keeping our teams safe. All our sites use chemicals to some degree, so following the safe handling information on the Safety Data Sheets that come with the chemicals, and having trained staff following the correct processes and using the right safety protection is all key to safe handling.

Our sites regularly hold trial emergency evacuations and adding specific scenarios, such as an ammonia chemical evacuation, provides a chance to really test each plan.

Our month-long focus on Hazardous Substances and Chemical Handling aims to promote best practice and reduce harm. We’re asking everyone to always be careful when handling chemicals. We want all our teams to work safe and go home safe to their family and friends every day.
