Karl’s achievement in Oceania weightlifting championship

In February, Karl Davies from Moregate Biotech had the opportunity to compete for the New Zealand Olympic weightlifting team at the Oceania weightlifting championship in Auckland.

He came in fourth place in the men’s under 102kg group, and reports that he lifted within 5kg of his personal bests on both lifts and had a good attempt at getting new personal records. He was proud to have achieved fourth place at his first international competition.

He was also able to spend time training with some of New Zealand’s high-performance athletes, including rooming with Olympian Cameron McTaggart.

Karl looks forward to competing at the North Island Champs, and potentially the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in Fiji at the end of September.
