Manawatū’s new chain
Posted on Friday, 27 June 2025 under Latest,
A recently installed automated chain system at ANZCO Foods Manawatū is already having a positive impact on both safety and efficiency.
This upgrade was driven by two key goals: reducing the physical strain on employees and minimising the risk of STEC (a strain of E. coli) contamination. Previously, carcasses – some weighing up to 900kg – had to be manually pulled between stations. Not only was this physically demanding, but every additional touchpoint increased the risk of bacterial spread.
The new system eliminates the need for manual handling between stations and significantly reduces contamination risks, marking a strong step forward for both people safety and product integrity.
Thank you to Plant and Fabrication Services, Greaves Electrical, the ANZCO automation team, and Matt Gorton for making it happen. Thanks also to our Manawatū team for their patience and positivity throughout the commissioning process.
