Dalmayne Tutauha

Blue Shift Supervisor

Dalmayne's career at ANZCO Foods Eltham spans more than 10 years. His journey from the freezers to his current position of Blue Shift Supervisor is a story of perseverance and growth. Starting out in the freezers meant Dalmayne's adaptability saw him transition into slaughter, and briefly, into the boning room. However, an unexpected medical incident – nerve damaged by an IV insertion – cost him the use of his knife hand, altering his career path dramatically.

Rather than seeing this setback as a loss, the company and Dalmayne viewed it as an opportunity. Management recognised his invaluable work ethic and proposed a shift towards leadership. After applying and working through the recruitment process, he was ecstatic when he secured the Supervisor role. Embracing this chance with enthusiasm, Dalmayne embarked on training to become a Supervisor. Now, he thrives in a role that not only respects his capabilities but also showcases his passion for nurturing a safe, efficient workplace. His job includes the management of workers, communication between other Supervisors, and making sure the team is safe at work every day. He also embraces the administrative duties that come with the role and enjoys the training aspect and teaching newcomers to the team.

Dalmayne's love for his job is evident, symbolised by his hard hat which has an "I LOVE MY JOB" sticker attached to the back – a small yet profound declaration of his job satisfaction and the positive environment he enjoys working in. This sentiment extends beyond personal job satisfaction as Dalmayne is often left speechless when he hears about ANZCO’s generous sponsorships and donations to the community. He was particularly moved by its recent donation of 100kgs of mince to Ronald McDonald House.

Outside of work, Dalmayne's world revolves around his family – his wife of four years (also a fellow ANZCO Foods employee) – and their delightful three-year-old daughter. Their simple pleasures, like park visits and the infectious sound of giggles and laughter, are what matter most to Dalmayne.

Dalmayne has also recently discovered a passion for smoking meat. He built his own smoker which he says was not only fun to do, but way cheaper than buying one, and says it turned out really good! He’s enjoying it so much, and finds the results are so good, that he’s looking at entering competitions sometime soon.
