Meet Channou Vichet

Packer at ANZCO Foods Canterbury

Channou (known around site as Nou) joined ANZCO Foods Canterbury as a packer in July last year with the first group of Vietnamese and Cambodian offshore employees, and she now helps support offshore employees who work at the site. She picks up new arrivals from the airport and helps them settle in, including setting up a bank account, translating for driving tests, giving them tips for driving in New Zealand, and she even takes them to hospital if they're unwell. She also helps them at work, translating their induction and health checks, and helps with any meetings the offshore employees have.

In Cambodia she studied Management and finished level 12 English at American Intercon School. She has also worked as a trimmer and boner at a site in Vietnam. She chose to come to New Zealand because she's keen to explore the country and to support her parents, who are back in Vietnam. After a busy day, she likes to wind down by cooking dinner with her housemate or going shopping. She also enjoys hiking.
