Meet Dilini Knight

Compliance Auditor at ANZCO Foods Manawatū

Dilini has been at ANZCO Foods Manawatū for eight months in her role as the sites' Compliance Auditor.

She's out and about every day conducting internal audits to make sure all areas - from yards to freezers - are up to scratch and meet regulations. She also has a monthly audit schedule to keep to, on top of the daily inspections. If Petera, the site's QA, is away, she'll pick up any sampling that needs to happen, and she's also learning how to do documentation. While working at ANZCO, she's been pleasantly surprised by her friendly and supportive colleagues.

Before working at ANZCO Foods, Dilini worked at AFFCO Imlay as a meat inspector, and as a QA at Turk's Poultry in Foxton. Dilini moved to New Zealand from Sri Lanka in 2019 and pursued a Master's Degree in food technology. She chose to move to New Zealand because of it's beautiful scenery, the climate, and the friendly people.

Outside of work, she enjoys reading poetry and books, and listening to music. Poems written in Sinhala - the most common language of Sri Lanka - are her favourite as she says it's a beautiful language. But she also enjoys reading Russian authors like Leo Tolstoy in her second language, English, and her favourite book is War and Peace.

When she's not at work, she spends time with her husband, and meets with the Sri Lankan community in Whanganui. After a busy day, she enjoys listening to Sri Lankan and Indian music, and also enjoys listening to artists like Ed Sheeran and Rihanna.
