Meet Johnny Pope-Neame

Apprentice Engineer at ANZCO Foods Marlborough

Johnny has been part of the ANZCO Foods Marlborough team as an apprentice engineer for more than a year. He says the main part of his job is to fix things around site if they break. His maintenance engineering apprenticeship is a four-year programme, comprising practical work and block courses. Before joining ANZCO, he didn't realise the site existed, after only seeing The Local Butcher building, so he was surprised to discover the site when he applied for the role.

Outside of work, Johnny is building a truck, and he'll usually work on it in the evenings to unwind after a busy day. You'll also often find Johnny making videos on TikTok for his 23,000 followers! Johnny rose to fame after posting some videos as an inside joke with workmates, and soon realised other people enjoyed watching his videos too. He says he enjoys posting anything that makes people laugh - he often posts about his truck, life on-farm, and whipping up ‘exotic food’ combinations, like pickles and Nutella. 

When he's not on TikTok or working on his truck, Johnny plays hockey, or helps out around his parent's sheep and beef farm.
