Meet Joshua Anderson

Freezer Hand at ANZCO Foods Manawatū

Joshua Anderson has a unique claim to fame - he's been in a film shown at the Cannes Film festival! Joshua was bunking class in high school when he heard an announcement over the intercom for auditions for a small part in an upcoming film. He figured it was a good way to avoid his teachers, so he went along to the audition and wound up getting the part. Luckily, he quite enjoyed acting, and ended up being flown to Cannes Film Festival as part of the film Les Moissoneurs (The Reapers).

After high school, he left South Africa when he was around 18 years old, and travelled around the world working on yachts. He did that for a few years until Covid hit and his job fell through, so he came to New Zealand, where he's now lived for three years. In that time, he's worked as a campsite manger at Camp Hawea, a Kiwi Waterpark Lifeguard at Lake Dunstan, a surf school manager, and more, moving around to where the seasonal work is available. He's been at ANZCO Foods Manawatū for around five months now, where he says the key thing his role includes is being cold.

Outside of work, he enjoys surfing, hunting, and being outdoors. When he first came to New Zealand he lived in Central Otago and used to do a lot of hunting there, and now he's moved up north he's keen to go hunting in the Kaweka Mountains. His other claim to fame is that he does a mean shisa nyama/braai!

P.s. - he has five surfboards stuck in a shearing shed down south - any help getting them up north would be appreciated!

Neither - he'd choose Bovril (and fish paste!)
