Meet Kristin Lee
Senior Stockperson at Five Star Beef

Otherwise known as Krissy, she's the Senior Stockperson (or “Stockie”) at Five Star Beef.

She’s worked there for eight years, starting out as a stockie and over time taking on more responsibility by overseeing the other stockies out in the field at the feedlot. A stockie completes a range of tasks including riding pens checking the animals are well, drafting for shipment, EID scanning and dealing with the arrival of cattle onto the feedlot (weighing, tagging, drenching, vaccinating), loading out shipments, and data entry!

Before she joined the team at Five Star Beef, she worked in the yards at Silver Fern Farms’ Fairton plant after moving to Canterbury from Australia. In Aussie, she worked at racing stables, a cattle station, was a customer relations officer at GWMWater – an Australian government authority, and did waitressing.

On top of all that, she is also a qualified personal trainer, and an equine sports massage therapist (that’s massage therapy for horses)!

What has surprised Krissy about working at Five Star Beef is how much of a family the team is there. She loves how everyone bands together to support each other and says with a small team of 20 or so, it means they get to know each other really well. She also highly rates the amazing management team saying she couldn’t ask for better leaders than what she has in Iain, Tash, and Steve.

Outside of work, most of her time is taken up spending time with her five-year-old son. He is most definitely her pride and joy, and she loves nothing better than rolling around on the floor with him as her favourite way to unwind after a busy day at the feedlot. She also enjoys fitness and running, but her other biggest loves in life are her horses – and doing her special equine massage therapy on them. Her family is still back in Australia, so she misses them a lot, but also has two other horses in addition to her work horse, which alongside her wee man, is ample to keep her busy.

  Vanilla

  None. Nutella all the way.

  Cadbury over Whittakers any day!

  I'd love to travel anywhere with my won - but especially to Wales.
