Feed Team Lead / Feedshed Loader Operator at Five Star Beef

Otherwise known in the Five Star Beef team as Matty-K, Matt plays a pivotal role at the feedlot as Feed Team Lead / Feedshed Loader Operator.

With a commendable tenure of 17 years, Matty-K has become an integral part of the team. His journey with Five Star Beef began after a career on the road as a truck driver.

What stands out about Matty-K is not just his dedication to his role but his genuine appreciation for the people he works with. He shared how he distinctly remembers the warm welcome he received on his first day at Five Star Beef and one of the things he enjoys most about working is the familial bond among the team.

Away from work, Matt prefers the simple pleasures in life. He enjoys winding down and “mellowing out” with his wife at home, where they enjoy spending quality time together. A self-proclaimed culinary enthusiast, Matty-K takes pride in ruling the kitchen, especially when whipping up a delicious halloumi salad. Inspired by his sister-in-law who is a health enthusiast, he's always eager to explore and learn new cooking techniques, further fuelling his passion for food and being in the kitchen.

Family is the cornerstone of Matt's life. He is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, with his children and grandchildren residing in Christchurch and Raglan. His love for his family is unparalleled, and it’s this love that motivates him every day, both in his personal life and at work.
