New separator at ANZCO Foods Canterbury

Posted on Friday, 27 September 2024

The ANZCO Foods Canterbury rendering department recently replaced its separator which helps increase capacity.

Separators are used in the rendering process to extract micro-residues from fats, meaning we can get extremely high-quality fat from our hides. This fat – also known as tallow – is exported and used to produce biodiesel.

The new machine uses less water, has a simpler self-cleaning process as well as other features that are likely to reduce routine maintenance. There will be a period of adjustment while engineering team embeds the machine.

This is the first machine of its kind in New Zealand. Many thanks to the engineering team at Canterbury, and GTech, long-term contractors of ANZCO Foods, which supplied the machine.
