Potential power cuts tomorrow (Fri 10 May)
Posted on Thursday, 9 May 2024
There may be power cuts across New Zealand between 7-9am tomorrow, Friday 10 May, because of increased energy use due to cold temperatures.
To help minimise power cuts, people are being asked to turn off heaters or lights in rooms they aren't using, avoid charging electronic devices and vehicles, and delay using washing machines, clothes dryers, and dishwashers until after 9am.
It'll be a cold morning, so stay warm and heat the rooms you're using, but consider turning down heating by 1-2 degrees during this time.
If you need electricity for medical reasons, ensure you have a backup plan, and call 111 in an emergency.
