Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori

This week, 11-17 September, is Māori Language Week.

The event is held annually to celebrate the Māori culture and language, and with only around 185,000 New Zealanders speaking Māori, it’s an opportunity for people to learn new words and phrases.

To celebrate this week, we’ve been sharing the pronunciation of our reo Māori site names and challenging you to give them a go. And, today the Mahuru reo Māori challenge starts and I encourage you to take part, as well as continuing to develop your reo Māori.
