Domestic team update

September 2024

To say this winter has been challenging for the domestic team is no understatement with many of our seasoned veteran customers claiming access to product was the tightest they could recall.

The scarcity inevitably drove market pricing adding cost pressures to an already tough business environment. Whilst the team comprising Lucy, Ron, Steve and Sarah are happy to embrace a challenge, there has been some pretty fancy footwork juggling stocks versus demand in order to look after our loyal customers. Clearly this wasn’t an ANZCO only situation as we were approached by many operators who were not our regular clients seeking product to fill their supply gaps.

From our perspective the choice has been easy, we will always support those that we work with on a day-to-day basis as our first priority and we appreciate your willingness and flexibility to navigate through the challenges with us.

On a positive note, the red meat team thoroughly enjoyed hosting some of our customers at the ANZCO Foods Butcher Apprentice finals held in Auckland.

April 2023

There is a well-known saying that ‘the only constant is change.’ – well this holds true at ANZCO Foods. After 5 years with Shannon Marshall managing the Oceania Sales team, Shannon is moving on to new challenges as Head of Sales for ANZCO’s North American business. We will be sad to see him move from the Oceania team however the great news is that he remains with ANZCO Foods and he goes having developed some great relationships and having implemented many improvements to our ways of working.

Continuing with the ‘change’ theme, I am very pleased to welcome Sarah Rudolph and Steve Hill to the team, joining Lucy Gunn and Ron Gourley in bringing New Zealand’s finest beef and lamb to our NZ customer partners.

Sarah has already been in the ANZCO family for 17 years and worked in a variety of diverse roles over that time. These include our Fellmongery operation, logistics and Co-products divisions where she specialized in selling animal by-products, i.e., hides, sheep skins, calfskins, casings, and petfood. Sarah joins the team focused upon expanding her knowledge in the ANZCO Foods Premium Lamb and Beef product range and sharing her co-products skillset with the wider team.

Steve joins us from another meat company and will already be known to many of you. Steve brings 22 years of experience within the meat industry and can claim to be something of a BBQ and bacon making whizz. He is already up and running and looking to work closely with his national portfolio of ANZCO Foods customers.
