For those experiencing drought, the Rural Support Trust has great information on its website outlining how you can best get through a dry period, and provides free and confidential support and advice. This nationwide network is run by locals to help farming families and rural communities.

They are also running some Surviving the Dry farmer BBQ events (Tuesday 18 March in Tirohanga, Thursday 20 March in Taupiri, and Tuesday 25 March in Reporoa) – these could be a great opportunity to connect with others in your community. Find out more here.

Farmstrong is another nationwide wellbeing programme for the rural community. There’s loads of excellent resources available here, and Farmstrong will also be available in person at a number of upcoming events.

If you’re having a tough time personally, your GP can be a great person to see. Not only can they help with physical matters, but they’re also there to assist with mental health with a number of services and tools available to them.

Your neighbours and community are also likely to be sharing in your challenges. Head along to community events where you can, and reach out to each other for support.
