Safer Rides - an incentive to install CPDs on quad bikes

Posted on Monday, 15 July 2024

This week Safer Farms is rolling out its Safer Rides campaign.

From 2019 to 2023, there were 22 quad bike-related fatalities in New Zealand. At ANZCO Foods, we want to make a difference, so we’ve partnered with Safer Farms and other industry partners to ensure cost isn't a barrier to on-farm safety.

Farm safety is paramount to everyone, and we encourage farmers to … install crush protection devices (CPDs) on their quad bikes to reduce harm on farm. A CPD provides space underneath an upturned quad bike by spreading the weight of the bike and either creating space for survival or allowing the bike to roll off the occupant.

The Safer Rides incentive programme offers farmers a redeemable voucher worth $400 for CPD installation, meaning a large percentage of the retail price is covered by Safer Rides.

The incentive is being piloted with an initial 100 vouchers available. Four CPD products are available under the programme, including: the QuadBar Original ($635) and Quadbar flexibar ($780) from Quadbar, and the QuadGuard ($838) and Lifeguard ($1724) from Trax Equipment.

To apply for a CPD discount code, farmers should visit: www.farmwithoutharm.co.nz/saferrides from this Wednesday morning, 17 July (please note that the website won’t be live until then).
