Emissions pricing – have your say

Posted on Thursday, 3 February 2022

The agricultural sector has the opportunity to have a say in how we account for our emissions. If we don’t engage constructively now, we run the risk of being brought into the Emissions Trading Scheme or having a pricing system that doesn’t work for us.

There are three pricing options on the table, a farm-level levy, a processor-level hybrid levy, and the processor backstop option – the ETS. You can find out more about each option here: He Waka Eke Noa Partnership for Farmers or He Waka Eke Noa - Primary Sector Climate Action Partnership

During February Beef + Lamb New Zealand, DairyNZ, and Federated Farmers are holding roadshows to gauge farmer opinion before primary sector action partnership He Waka Eke Noa reports back to the Government in late April. Check out dates and locations of these 29 workshops and four webinars: Agriculture emissions pricing options – February roadshow | Beef + Lamb New Zealand (beeflambnz.com)
