ANZCO Foods CEO Update - February 2024

Posted on Monday, 19 February 2024 under CEO Updates

National Lamb Day had a bit of a shake-up this year with a new date to celebrate Kiwi food and the legacy of our first New Zealand food export.

The date of the annual celebration moved from May to February and along with many from the industry I attended a lunch in Parliament’s grounds hosted by the Speaker of House Gerry Brownlie. The event attracted around 200 people including MPs from across the political spectrum and representing a wide of portfolios.

I was pleased to note there were high levels of engagement about the red meat industry and a willingness to discuss sector issues.

February also commemorates a year since the devastating Cyclone Gabrielle and I want to acknowledge that many of you, who were affected, are still working through the recovery.

As we move into the peak season, this increases pressure on processing capacity and it may mean there isn’t space when you want to supply. We recommend you stay in touch with your Livestock Representatives.
